Have TMJ, Done Upper Endoscopy. Bump On Roof Of Mouth, Jaw Pain. Taken Ibuprofen. What To Do?

I had an upper endoscopy done and I have TMJ. The attending that did my endoscopy must have severelybruised the roof of my mouth. (Also big bump there. I have a horrible pain that can't even be relieved with 4 ibphrophins. Also my jaw is radiating pain. I can barely stand this pain. What should I do and how long can this go on?

Hello,

Thanks for writing to us.

Pain in T M J may occur due to dislocation, fracture as well as inflammation of jaws.

Jaws has to be Immobilised for a while, using Intermaxillary fixation.

Spliniting has to be done if necessary.

Avoid mouth opening too widely.

Cause for bump occurred on roof of mouth has to be ruled out.

If there is no infection underlying, nothing to worry.

Deep caries or Periodontally infected tooth if associated has to be extracted or retained depending on severity of inflammation.

Antibiotics has to be administered along with analgesics.

Hope this helps out.
