Have A Nerve Damage In The Eye. Had A Trauma. Cataract Removed. Sunlight Hurts. Feel Dizzy. Distorted Vision. Treatment?

I have nerve damage to the left eye not the optic nerve but the nerve that is on the top of the eye socket ( I suffered a trauma to my left eye . I have had catatract removed and have scarring (tissue) on the back of the eye . Sunlight really hurts my eye , dizziness to the point of falling when bending over and blurred, distorted vision in the left eye . The pain is a feeling of the eye is being squeezed .I have headache or eye ache that make me nausea . I have been prescribed Lyricia however I am already on narcotic pain medication for a back injury (1992) and feel this is doing nothing and in some ways increasing the pain. Should I go back to the doctors or stop this medication .

Hi there. You do need a detailed assessment to check if there is any specific eye problem which can be treated (is it inflammation or is it a pupil which is large and not reacting to light), It is likely you may benefit from seeing a pain specialist for the nerve injury , as they may be able to consider nerve blocks in some cases. I recommend that you see your doctors again. Hope your problem clears soon.
