Hi ! It is not uncommon to get scars in abdominal operations specially with potentially infected surgeries. The main preventive step to be taken by you is not to feedle with the scar, and not to scratch it, even though there may be urge for scratching it due to the itchiness of such scars. If it has grown much, then you can apply some steroid ointments to retard overgrowth of this scar.
