Have Anxiety. Uncontrollable Jaw Clenching. New Symptom?
I suffer from anxiety and have for along time, I'm very aware of what sypmtoms I have from and my anxiety and from my attacks. I recently have started clecnhing my jaw and it's uncontrollable,I focus on not clenching and I stop but once I go back to thinking outside of not clecnhing my jaw I notice i startagain. Is this a new symptom to my anxiety? or can this be something else i should look into?
You are having anxiety disorder for long time. Recently you have developed a new problem of jaw clenching. It is uncontrollable and you try to avoid clenching but once you divert your attention off it, clenching occurs again. Most likely it is the part of anxiety only. It may be some form of tic or it may be some compulsive behavior. I would advise you to please visit a good psychiatrist for proper evaluation. Medicines like SSRI as Fluoxetine, Paroxetine, Fluvoxamine etc are useful.
Hello
Welcome to health care magic
I can understand your situation. I appreciate your effort to seek online support.
As per your details, you are possibly having Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD) which is an anxiety disorder. For this consult a psychiatrist for detailed evaluation and management. Following treatment strategies would be helpful-
1) Antidepressants/antianxiety agents like SSRIs (escitalopram, sertarline, paroxetine etc)
2) Antianxiety agents like clonazepam, lorazepam, alprazolam etc
3) Psychotherapy/ Counselling sessions
4) Relaxation techniques like yoga, meditation, deep breathing etc
Hope it helps
Good luck

Hi,
thanks for suing health care magic.
Jaw cliching can be because of
1) stress reaction of body. which is more likely in your case.
2) tics
3) a symtom of obsessive complusive disorder.
You should consult your psychiatrist for detailed evaluation and if needed, to neurologist also.
I hope you will be fine soon.
