Have Arthritis And DDD. Grinding In Knee, Have Meniscus Tear. Done Arthroscopy. Should I Use Crutches?

48 yr old female 5.6. 70kg. 5 day post arthroscopy on left meniscas tear. Arthritis, DDD in lumber and cervical spine. Still lots of crunching and grinding from left knee. Tear was a large medial to the left knee. Bit worried. Otherwise quite pain free. Thank you. Also, there was a chronic sprain to a bowed MCL and bone marrow odema. I do have a post op in 2 weeks. Do u think I should go back to crutches or just soldier on. Have done all recommended PT. thank you.

Hello,

Meniscus acts as a shock absorber and friction between the joints.
Any damage to it will increase the process of arthritis of the joint.

Postoperatively avoid weight bearing to the joint.
If you're comfortable without crutches then it is ok.

But the management includes.
1. Weight management.
2. Regular physiotherapy to maintain the strength of the quadriceps muscle.
