Have Bicornuate Uterus. Now Pregnant. Worried About Miscarriage
I have a bircornuate uterus . I am confused as I don t know whether this has a septum or is more like 2 wombs. The reason I am worried is because I am 6 weeks pregnant. I have heard that if it is a septum then if the placenta attaches I will miscarry. Some sites say bicornuate does not have a septum and some say it does?
Hello
thanks for your query.
Bicornuate uterus and septate uterus are entirely different entities, easily diagnosed by ultrasound, hysteroscopy and laparoscopy
Both have high degrees of chances of abortion and preterm births, but more severe in case of septate uterus.
What you can do now is follow medical advice, take rest, avoid exertion, go for cervical encirclage if recommended and hope for the best.
In case you do miscarry, you can consider corrective surgery before your next pregnancy.
take care and all the best.
