Hello,
Your uterus is heart shaped instead of normal pear shape.
It is usual to have one in 200 women have
bicornuate uterus.
You are able to conceive but you may face any of following problems
1. Cervical incompetance
2. Spontaneous abortion
3. Premature labour
4. Retained placenta
5. Breech presentation
But several studies shows that 60 % of women with bicornuate uterus deliver normal live baby without any major complications.
You need following investigations to be done
1. Pelvic exam – two horns can occasionally be palpated.
2. Sonogram - A bicornuate uterus can sometimes be diagnosed by ultrasound
3. Laparoscopy – provides information on the exterior shape of the uterus.
4.
Hysteroscopy – provides information on the interior configuration of the uterus.
At present following surgeries can be done,
1. Metroplasty surgery - to create a large
uterine cavity with minimal destruction of uterine tissue is the treatment of choice.
2.
Cervical cerclage - improved the fetal
survival rate in selected patients.
Both metroplasty and a cervical cerclage may be prescribed.
Hope this helps.
