Have Bipolar Disorder, Prolapsed Lumbar Disc. Can I Use Dihydrocodeine Without Disrupting The Stability Of My Bipolar?
I have bipolar disorder and a prolapsed lumbar disc waiting for surgery. I am currently not coping with paracetamol fir analgesia and have been advised against pregabalin. Can I safely taken dihydrocodeine without disrupting the stability of my bipolar. I have been stable on fluoxetine 20mg od and topiramate 100mg bd for over 2 years.
I am so sorry to hear about this prolapsed disc and the resulting pains. Yes, hydrocodeine would not disrupt the stability of your bipolar disorder. However, this is a prescription medication and you should talk to your doctor for a prescription.
My advice is that when a drug fails to adequately control symptoms, please consider getting back to the doctor for evaluation and modification rather than trying out things yourself. Talk to your doctor in order to get his approval and prescription.
I hope you find this helpful. Thank you so much for using our services and feel free to request for more information if need be. I wish you the best of health. Thanks. Dr. Ditah, MD
