Hi,I am Dr. Subhankar Chakraborty (Gastroenterologist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Hi,since about past 6 months I ve been noticing brigh red blood in my stool .It started the day when I ate an egg-roll from outside,it was very spicy. The blood in my stool was very light, not dark and heavy like usual blood.Recently, the frequency of this bright red liquid in my stool has increased to the extent of almost everytime I take a dump.Whenever I sit on the toilet-seat to take a dump, the blood comes out when I fart .So I don t think that the turd-logs are bloody,it s just that when I fart, the blood comes out.Sometimes not even a turd log comes out,but still the blood is there because of the fart.I haven t spoken to anybody about this yet, because I feel embarressed. But since the frequency of blood has increased significantly,I think I do need help.Any suggestions will be highly appreciated.
Hi,
Welcome to HCM,
From your history it seems that you are having Internal piles giving rise to bleeding.
Consult surgeon and get examined.
If you do not go for treatment due to chronic blood loss you may get Anemia.
Avoid constipation, take Cremaffin one tablespoonful at night.
Take plenty of fiber in your diet.
Take plenty of water.
Avoid spicy and junk food.
Ok and bye.
Blood in stools can be caused by many conditions. Given your symptoms, the possibilities would be infection, inflammatory bowel disease, some growth in the gut, etc. It can also be caused by some serious conditions like cancer.
To rule these possibilities out, a detailed physical examination and some investigations need to be done. The investigations can include fecal occult blood test, some blood tests, ultrasonography of abdomen and colonoscopy with biopsy. Ultrasonography is imaging of body parts with a computerised machine using sound waves which we cannot see. Colonoscopy means passing a tube through anus to visualize the lower gut internally. Biopsy means taking out small portions of the lining of gut to visualize under a microscope.
Hope I have answered your query.
Thanks
