Male, age 75, blood in urine. now passing clots on occasion; overwhelming urge to urinate. Sometimes o.k. amount, most times minimal. no abdominable swelling; no back pain or spasms. no nausea or vomiting. has had prostate problems in past. on blood thinners. What could it be? E.R.?
Hello Thanks for your query,based on the facts that you have posted it appears that you have painless hematuria with urgency for urination . This is most likely to be due to enlarged prostate which is common at this age.however final diagnosis can be confirmed only on clinical and digital rectal examination by qualified urologist and following basic tests. 1) Routine urine and urine culture. 2) Ultrasound scanning if the abdomen and Ultrasound scanning by trans rectal probe, If hematuria is severe visit Er and start taking treatment earlier.
Discontinue taking blood thinners till hematuria is controlled.
