Have Cholesterol. Taking Ezetrol Along With Simvastatin. Can They Cause Diabetes?

Hi,
I take Ezetrol 10mg per day along with Simvastatin 10mg per day. These I have been taking for about 8 years for cholesterol. Can these drugs cause diabetes? Two weeks ago after blood tests (which I have each year) that I have have early signs of diabetes. I am a petite person, 5' 2" , weighing 85kg, never have takeaways, grow all my own veges, red meat once a week, chicken and fish 3 other days and just an omelette or homemade soups the other days. I do often have a piece of cheese along with my lunch which always includes bread, avos, lettuce. I live on my own so do all my own lawns, gardens etc. Guilty tho of not getting my heart rate up very often.
Thanks
Regards

Hi,
Although you live a healthy lifestyle, you have put on weight that is not "ideal". Obesity itself is a risk factor for Insulin resistance and thus high blood sugar so you need to work on that. Regarding the drugs that you are taking, the risk of high blood sugar and Diabetes with Simvastatin is small but important enough that the Food and Drug Administration ( FDA) has issued a warning regarding blood glucose levels and Diabetes.
