Have Chronic Lymphocytic Leukemia. Pain In Arm, Swollen From Elbow To Wrist. Collapsed Vein Or Blood Clot?
My 55 year old brother has chronic lymphochetic leukemia . He was just hospitalized with pneaumonia three weeks ago. They did say his veins had collapsed and they had trouble finding his veins. He had a blood clot in his leg in May of 2012 and was treated with 6 months of coumidin. He received a leukemia treatment last week. Today he is complaining of his arm hurting. It appears to be swollen on the inner arm from the elbow to the wrist . Could this be a collapsed vein or a blood clot.
Hi,
chemotherapy itself can be the cause of thrombophlebitis. deep vein thrombosis is another cause. though it is not very common in upper arm. it will be better to go for upper arm venous doppler. it will help to select treatment.
