Have Cuts Inside Lower Lip. Teeth On Lower Jaw Are Jagged. Treatment?

Hi, I have a problem with small little cuts on the inside of my lower lip . On the same side of flesh that lays against my lower teeth . They aren t particularly painful unless my teeth put pressure on them by biting my lower lip, and I believe they might be from my actual teeth cutting into my lip. Admittedly, the teeth on my lower jaw are pretty jagged and not very straight. The cuts just sort of look like precise deep-ish indents that are colored red or dark pink, much darker than the rest of my inner lip. They are only visible if I pull my lower lip down to see the innermost side of the lip.

HELLO,

Thanks for writing in.

The cuts inside your lower lip is due to the traumatic bite caused from crowded lower front teeth.

As a temporary relief, you can apply anaesthetic gel on the affected site.

For permanent relief, please do get othodontic appliance to correct your malaligned teeth.
If the cuts persists,it can lead into ulceration.

Vitamin becosules can be administered.
Please do maintain good oral hygiene too.
Crowding of teeth also results in plaque accumulation and thereby gingivitis.
So i would suggest you to get scaling done.

hello michael,
according to the history you gave seems you have malaligned teeth with teeth in the lower jaw compared to the upper are plced anteriorly and thus put pressure on the lips thus cutting your lips
if not treated may result into canker sore.

These are a tooth that may take on the appearance as a result from an unstable bite in the teeth, such as an over- or under-bite.
immediate treatment is to cure the symptoms first.. so go for a gum paint apply 3-4 times and massage gently.

Often something easy such as placing white composite filling material will temporarily improve the appearance. Unfortunately, if the underlying problem is not fixed, the composite usually needs to be replaced periodically as it has a tendency to come off.

Placing a porcelain crown can be a stronger solution, however it requires drilling the tooth and often the porcelain will chip just as easily as the original tooth enamel.
lastly visit an orthodontist and go for an apropriate ortho tratment.
take care

hello sir
As mentioned by you, its clear that due to irregular teeth, there is a traumatic bite in your case.
its cutting into your lips. so as to avoid further discomfort, go for ortho treatment at the earliest i.e. straightening of teeth using wires. as for immediate relief, apply DENTOGEL or OROHEAL.
also whenever possible use cotton as a barrier against the lip to avoid cutting into your lip. also use multivitamin tablets as they heal up the healing of ulcers.

Wishing you speedy recovery

Hi,
Thanks for asking the query,

As your lower anterior teeth are crowded they are traumatizing your lower lip thats why you are getting cuts.

I would advice you to apply Mucopain or Dologel ct ointment topically on the affected area for pain relief .
Start taking multivitamin tablets .
Maintain good oral hygiene .
Use 0.2% of chlorhexidine mouthwash gargles twice daily .
This will promote in wound healing.

If you continue applying pressure on this cuts it can develop into ulceration or canker sores .
Visit to your orthodontist for treatment of your malaligned teeth.

Regards...

hello there ,

Your lower lip seems to be injured developing cuts and abrasions due to crowding of lower front teeth and traumatic bite .

such open cuts if left untreated may develop into ulcerations due to bacterial or viral infections .

i suggest you to apply antiseptic and anlagesic oral ointment topically over the lip mucosa and the gums , this will help in healing and will relieve pain .

oral supplements of multivitamin tablets and vitamin C lozenges help in reducing the inflammation.

you can use antiseptic mouth wash like chlorhexidine for mouth rinsing which gives soothing effect.

For treating the crowded anterior teeth and traumatic bite , please approach an orthodontist . you may require an OPG Radiograph before starting the treatment.

i hope this helps ,

take care.

Orthopaedic Surgeon, Joint Replacement Dr. Saurabh Gupta's  Response
Hello,
Thanks for posting your query,
as per your history little cuts on lower lips is due to malaligned teeth
By treating moderate or severe malocclusion, the teeth are easier to clean and there is less risk of tooth decay and periodontal diseases.
The goal is to correct the positioning of the teeth. Braces or other appliances may be used. Metal bands are placed around some teeth, or metal, ceramic, or plastic bonds are attached to the surface of the teeth. Wires or springs apply force to the teeth.
It is important to brush and floss your teeth every day and have regular visits to a general dentist
I hope this information has been both informative and helpful
