Have Dementia, Bleeding From Rectum. Vomiting Coffee Grinds. Any Insight?
My grandmother has dementia for about 9 years now and on Monday she took a turn for the worst and was bleeding out of her rectum . She lost a lot of blood and is not in the ICU and they re trying to determine where s she s bleeding internally from. She was also vomiting up what looked like coffee grinds. Shes 87 and extremely frail. Can anyone lend some insight as to whether this is the end for her?
The prognosis would depend on: (1)the extent of blood loss, (2)how quickly the bleeding can be stemed , (3)the ability to restore normal blood volume (4)maintaining normal blood pressure and pulse with replacement fluids (5) and any co-morbid conditions
It would be best to speak to her doctor regarding her prognosis.
I hope this helps
