Have Diabetes. Applied Topisal And Xerina For Cracks In Sole. How Long Can Medicine Be Applied?

Hi,
I am diabetic for the last 10 years keeping it usually under control with exercise and medicine.
Since the last two years I have developed cracks under the sole of my feet which get aggravated on the change of season and also upon use of anti allergic drug "Cetrazine". For the last 15 days I am applying Topisal -6% at night and Xerina cream in the morning. Cracks have healed but the skin under the sole near the cracks is still hard. Please advise for how long I can safely use the ointments. I am taking Evion LC for the last 9 months and Maxepa Capsules for the last 45 days. Please advise the safe duration for which the above medicines can be used. Please also advise which moisturiser should I use daily after the cracks completely heal so that it does not recur.

Hello,
Having dry feet is very common with people and specially in diabetes.
Soles of feet have no sweat glands and hence there is natural tendency for a dry feet in people which gets accentuated in diabetics.
You should stop using TOPISAL now as it is a steroid.
In normal course you may keep on applying XERINA as it has glycolic acid and urea in it which are very good moisturisers.
You can even apply some olive oil also.
Keep taking evion LC as it a nutritional supplement and an oxidant.
As far as MAXEPA is concerned, you may take it for 2 months and then put a gap of two months.
Don't rub your feet vigorously after bath.
Regularly use moisturisers.
Keep properly hydrated
Avoid alcohol and caffeine,as they dehydrate you.
Avoid fragrant soaps on feet.
Avoid sauna baths.
Thanks
