Have Diabetes, Perforated Ear, Oozing Pus With Blood. Risks Of Operation?
dear Doc, my father 79 years old , diabetic for last 35 years. he is havimg a perforated left ear sine last 5 years. there is always oozing of pus and some times bloody pus from it. we have been adviced for and agaings getting it operated by several docs in india and UAe. He wants to get it operated . what are the risks and will it cure him. he is hard on hearing from the right ear also and needs to wear a hearing Aid . A active old man still working . please suggest best remedy in UAe

I hope that your father's sugars are under control. The first thing you can do is that, take him to an ENT surgeon and ask him to control ear infection. Once both the ear infection and sugars are under control, he can undergo surgery. Surgery will not only reduce the ear discharge, it may improve hearing minimally considering his age. I hope age is not the criteria for surgery. All the best.
