Have Discharge And Bleeding From Ear. Taking Antibiotics And Ear Drops. What Could Be Wrong?

Hi doc I have been experiencing bleeding and sometimes other fluid from my left ear every night now for about 4 months now. This started immediately after I had wax removed from my ear. I went back to my doctor after I noticed this problem and he prescribed an ear drop along with some anti-biotic capsules but this didn't help the problem. I use an earpiece on a daily basis with my mobile phone but not on the affected ear. Any suggestions?

ENT Specialist 's  Response
Hi,

In your case, you seem to have a condition called otitis externa (an infection to the outer ear - in your case, the ear canal). Sometimes it happens after wax removal if there is an injury to the outer ear tissues. You may have to back to a doctor again if the problem is not resolved.

Do not tamper with your ears. Using something to remove wax from the ear could lead to injury to the ear canal and could lead to infections.

Sreenivasan
