Have Dizziness. Have Ear Infection. What Does This Denote?

Could an ear problem cause dizzineess? My son had a clogged ear then while he was working he started getting dizzy. Mainly when he is siiting at his desk. He went to urgent care the checked his vitals and everything was fine he did not have an ear infection . The dizziness went away after a couple days. He went back to work today and after about an hour he got dizzy again. He said his ear is slightly clogged. Could this be an inner ear problem.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello Tracy,

The symptoms like dizziness can be due to:
1. Any pathology in the vestibular apparatus in inner ear (it is associated with maintenance of body posture & balance)
2. Any fluctuation in blood pressure levels such as Hypotension.
3. Decrease in blood sugar levels (Hypoglycemia)
4. Deficiency of certain nutrients like Iron, Vitamin B 12, Calcium, etc. which also interferes with blood formation & nerve conduction.

Investigations like complete blood count, estimation of blood pressure and blood sugar levels will be helpful in clinching the diagnosis.
A CT scan of brain might be required to rule out any pathology in the inner ear.

So, it will be better to consult an ENT specialist & get a proper physical examination done.
So that appropriate management steps could be taken.

Wishing a good health.

Let me know if I need to clarify further.

Thanks & take care.
