It is the prazocin that is causing the dry mouth. Patients with this side effect are advised to drink water frequently and to chew candies or gum frequently to stimulate salivary production. Sugar-free ones are advisable since excess sugar can lead to cavities. Long term dry mouth can also lead to fungal infections. Get it examined regularly and may need to use topical rinses to avoid or treat it. Also discuss with your doctor if it possible to reduce the dose of prazocin to reduce this side effect.
Hope this helps, Dr A Rao
