Have Fever, Cough, Nasal Congestion. On Day-quill. Have Pain In Chest. Trouble Breathing. Painful When Sneezing. Suggestions?

Hi, yesterday I awoke with a fever , cough , and nasal congestion , I took some Day-Quill and felt okay for the rest of the day. Today I awoke and had a horrible pain on the left side of my chest and had trouble breathing . Whenever I take a breath, cough, or sneeze, the pain becomes worse, it even hurts when I stand upright, I ve been walking bent over so it doesn t hurt as much. The pain sometimes feels like it wraps around the left side of my ribs, to my back, and up to my armpit, but it is mostly in the front below my heart. I have had multiple broken ribs before and this pain feels similar but worse. I work on a dairy farm milking cows and feeding calves, there is a little heavy lifting but not much. Earlier today I went to work and felt like collapsing after 45 minutes of standing and milking, luckily another worker was there and took over for me. My plan is to rest for the day and go to the hospital tomorrow if I don t feel any better by morning.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

Thanks for posting on HCM,

You might have developed a lung infection such as pneumonia or acute bronchitis which could be responsible for your left sided chest pain. You will need to be checked by a doctor for pneumonia through physical examination and chest x-ray.
You probably will require a course of antibiotics and maybe steroid anti-inflammatory in order to treat the condition.

Hope this helps

Hi,
From history it seems that you might be having severe viral infection giving rise to generalized body ache, malaise, weakness.
Take ibuprofen, paracetamol combination twice in a day for 2-3 days.
Take some decongestant medicine as well.
Take plenty of water and light diet.
Take complete rest.
Ok and take care.
