Have Fractured Femur Above Knee. Had A Fall. Advised For Two Surgeries But Got Postponed. What To Do?

My aunt fell and fractured her femur just above a knee replacement two days ago. The bone splintered and it is broken in several places. We were told she's bleeding around the breaks. She's been scheduled for surgery twice in the past two days but the first one was postponed because her kidneys are not functioning properly the second one because her hemoglobin is too low. They are giving her two pints of blood and checking the level again at 4:oo a.m. tomorrow morning. She's 79, weighs about 250 pounds, and has a pacemaker. What can possibly happen from postponing the surgery and what can happen once they do operate. Thank you.

hi
thank you for trusting us in this critical situation.

As per you explained your aunt's situation, when to perform the surgery will be totally the surgeon's call who is attending your aunt. and yes presently due to low HB and some kidney dysfunction doctors are waiting for her to be prepared for surgery. so i would suggest you to have trust in your doctors attending your aunt.

The situation after the surgery means the post operative condition of your aunt will definately depend on how her body copes with the surgery. since as you told she is having some other problems as well.

So exactly how her post operative phase will be ...is difficult to comment on.
kindly trust the team of doctors who are treating her.
give her strength and motivation.

i hope this helps you,
wish her good health
