Have Genital Herpes. Can It Be Passed Through Oral Sex?
i, being a female, recently had an outbreak and was diagnosed with genital herpes. I have been married 29 years and have only had sex with my husband. He recently had an affair and I broke out about 8 months after that. His partner was tested, she was negative. He was tested and has HV1. Not genital. was told he only has the viral. Could he have given me the genital herpes thru oral sex? Or was I a carrier for all these years and never had an outbreak?
Well, herpes simplex virus infection is sexually transmitted and could be acquired through human contact, oral sex, penetrative sex etc. Ones an infected partner gets in touch with an uninfected partner, there is a likely possibility of transmission. The virus can remain inert for several years without outbreak,so you could have been as well infected but showing no symptoms or your partner could have transmitted it to you. You might be placed on antiviral such as acyclovir which is usually not very helpful as recurrence is always a cause for concern.
Hope this helps

Hi,
HSV1 more commonly occurs around the mouth but can also occur on the genitals.
Herpes 1 is the cause of what is commonly know as a "cold sore" and if you have Herpes 1 you can pass it to your partner through kissing, or via oral sex.
Symptoms can be improved by:
Salt baths
Ice packs to the affected area
Pain-relieving medicines – such as paracetamol Antiviral medications – such as Acyclovir. These medications can reduce the severity of an episode if taken early enough.
Regards.
