Have Had Cough, Soreness In Back Muscles, Breathing Noises From Chest. On Azithromycin, Z Pack. Suggest?

Yes, I have had a cough that has persisted for 4 days and doesn't seem to be getting better.
My Family Physician called in a Z-Pack ( Azithromycin- generic ) for me and I've been taking for two days.
My cough is very deep now and in my chest. I've coughed so much that my sides and back muscles are sore. I have noises in my chest now when breathing but not consistently.

Please suggest something that will help faster and clear whatever this may be.

Sincerely,
Coughing to death

ENT Specialist 's  Response
Hello

Thanks for writing to H.C.M.

I read your query regarding irritable cough for last 4 days not responding to antibiotic azithromycin.

As you said that your cough is associated with lot of sound in your chest, this indicates that there may be some spasm in your lungs. So you take these -

1- tab cetrizine.

2- bronchodialator cough expectorant.

3-warm saline gargling.

You may also do culture & sensitivity of throat swab for identification of infection and the most effective antibiotic in your case.

I hope this will help you.

Regards.
