Have Hearing Problem, Popping Sound While Swallowing. Any Solution?

I have distorted hearing in my left ear and sometimes get distorted hearing in my right ear. I have a lot of phlegm build up right now and when I swallow, my right ear gives some popping noise. I wear hearing aids because my left ear is low and now my right ear is getting lower. Any possible solution to distortion of sound? Even with hearing aids, it is difficult to hear certain voices clearly, even when I turn them up.

Hi,

You need to get used to the hearing aids. There will be some distortion of sound; but your brain needs to adapt to the sounds. How long have you been using the aids? Ideally, get it calibrated so that it matches to your frequency loss. It also depends on the quality of the hearing aids that you use.

Regarding your right ear, you may have some minor eustachian tube dysfunction leading to the popping noise. As you are saying you are hard of hearing even in your right ear, I strongly advise you to get a test done. Visit an ENT specialist for the right advise after proper examination.

Sreenivasan
