Have High Thyroid Level. Had Myxedema And On Supplements. What Can Be Done For This?
I had myxedema (sp) for 45 yrs on supplements. My Free T3 level is 3.20 pg/ml and they want to reduce my thyroid amount I have been on for those 45 years. I don't feel good on the 88 mcg they now have me on. Your suggestions? I KNOW the signs and symptoms! I take other meds as well that could be impacting my score??? YYYY@YYYY Sorry I didn't know I would have to pay. Please disregard.
Hi, Welcome to HCM, You are having Hypothyroidism for >45 years this is good you have been taking your supplements regularly. Your FT3 is 3.2 pg/ml is still in normal limit but reduction of dose depends on clinical finding and Thyroid function more so TSH level which is very sensitive to subclinical hypothyroid state. If you have high level of FT3,FT4 than also reduction in dose of Thyroxine is warranted.Your dose 88 mcg/day if inadequate and you are having symptoms of low thyroid hormone. please discuss with your treating physician. If you are taking other medicine then yes there are many medicine which can have effect on thyroid function For example Amiodarone?). Please Take care. Good Luck.
