Periods Getting Bimonthly, Heavy Flow And Had Prescribed Femilon. Thyroid Level Is High. Problem?
Hi, since February 2013, I was having periods very frequently, at a gap of 10-15 days. (very heavy flow, 5 days cycle). got checked in april 2013. Gynac said thyroid issue and prescribed femilon. My periods were regular for 2 months, then it started in the middle of femilon cycle again. however, the flow is very limited , (little heavier than spotting) and lasts just 2 -3 days. the flow on the end of femilon cycle is also very light and for 2 days. is something wrong? the gyanc did sonogram and blood tests and all was normal except thyroid level. why is this happening.
hello, as you are saying menorrhagia & thyroid issue, you may be suffering from hypothyroidism, hypothyroidism slows down metabolic processes of the entire body including pituitary and gonadal hormones causing sharp drop of estrogen and progesterone levels. Endometrium becomes dysfunctional, resulting in increased expulsion of it .Coupled wth this anemia and limited intake of calcium and fat soluble vitamins increases bleeding time and uterine flow. The net result is shortened menstrual cycle and increased flow. femilon which is prescribed to you is to regularise your menstural cycles. you consult your physician & get treated for your thyroid problem. Hope it helps, Take care & plz do keep me posted on how you doing or if you have any additional doubts Kind regards
