Have Hypothyroidism, Squeaky Voice, Feeling Of Lump In Throat, Weight Gain. Advice?

I am 47 and female. I think I may have hypothyroidism. My voice has become sqeaky during singing and I feel like there is a lump in my throat. I have gained 10 pounds in the last 3 months. I have been on a 1200 net calorie diet with exercise for a month and have not lost anything. I am usually hot but recently started feeling cold when the air conditioner is on while others are comfortable. Please advise.

Hi, Welcome to HCM.

Based on the information you have provided, your clinical symptoms such as lump in the throat, unexplained weight gain, and feeling cold certainly goes in the direction of hypothyroidism. You will need to get you blood TSH, T3 and T4 evaluated as it will give definitive diagnosis. In this regard I will advise you to consult your primary physician or endocrinologist so that he can titrate and prescribe thyroid medications (hormones) based on your current condition. However, I will also advise that you continue to exercise and maintain healthy diet since it will certainly help control your condition as well.

Hope this helps.
