Have Irregular Periods And Blood On Bum After Bowel Movement. Reason?
Hi I m 21 years old and for as long as I remember have had stringy brown period blood rather than red I am irregular due to being on the mini pill and a lately I have experienced more and more stringyness after my period as ended. Also in the past two weeks I have seen red blood from my bum whilst going to the toilet for a number 2 and I m beginning to get worried. Is this normal?
Hi, You need a local exam by a surgeon or a general physician to see where the blood is coming from. It could be from the anus or vagina or the urethra and needs to be localized. Also, please have a local exam by a gynecologist if the source of the blood is not the anus or urethra. Get a pap smear, vaginal swab and a sonogram. If hormonal imbalance is the cause, it can be corrected by hormonal replacement. If the bleeding is rectal and this is more likely as you are seeing it just before defecation, cause should be identified, say, a fissure or hemorrhoids or else, and treated. Urinalysis followed by endoscopy can identify the urethral causes, if any. Hope this helps.
