Have Lumps Behind Ear And Neck. Have Random Coughs And Hair Loss. Thyroid And Blood Test Normal. Biopsy Of Lumps? Suggest

Hi, I am a 24 year old female.

I've had a lump behind my right ear for about a year now, and also found a lump on the left side of my neck about a month ago. When it did not go away for a couple of weeks I took it to a doctor, who looked concerned and asked me to get an ultrasound. I still have to meet with her to speak about the ultrasound results, but during that time another smaller one has popped up next to the first one. The first one also feels a tad bigger. Should this be worrying me?

I am tired all the time, have an insane itch under my left foot (but no rash) for a while, sometimes itch everywhere, and occasionally have random dry coughing fits. I've also been losing a LOT of hair (my thyroid and blood tests came back fine). Today, I also experienced a very sharp pain beneath my left shoulder blade. In general, I have also been more phlegm-y than usual. Does any of this add up? Should I be pursuing a biopsy of the lumps? Thanks in advance for any advice you may have, I truly appreciate it!

Hi,

Yes, you should meet the doctor and be pursuing a biopsy of the lumps for a definitive diagnosis. Also find out the report of the ultrasound. I would not like to jump the gun here by naming a condition, but you definitely should not take this lightly and go and meet the doctor. He/she may do some additional tests and suggest the appropriate management.

Sreenivasan
