Have Moderate Rash On Neck And Ears. Putting Bandaid, Prescribed Steroids And Antihistamines. Help?

I have had a moderate rash on my neck and up around my ears off and on for over 6 months now that itches like crazy! I have seen both a dermatologist and an allergist and both have not seemed to be able to tell me what is causing it. They just keep putting a bandaid on it with steroids and antihistamines. I have noticed that if I have a weekend that I had several alcoholic beverages, I wake up the next morning all flared up with the rash and I'm all stuffy, etc. I think I'm having an allergic reaction to alcohol. But what I'm reading tells me that it's very rare that this is possible? Please help.

Hi, Thanks for using HCM.

If you can upload the photo then we can discuss it better for its management.

Based on your explanation and the area it affected it may be fungal infection or due to atopic dermatitis. Management differs in both. If you can at least tell the diagnosis your doctor has told then we can help you in management. Your doctor has given treatment for atopic dermatitis. You can also use neosporin cream on it. This may help you in treating any infection.

Hope I answered your question. Consult your doctor for further examination and management. Feel free to ask me if you have any further queries.
Wish you good health. Take care.

Hi,

Most probably it is from drinking alcohol based on your saying.

However, I would suggest to identify yourself if this rash is present only when you drink alcohol or when you eat or drink any other food.

Next, is your current job related to some allergic substances (dust,or whatever).

In addition, see if you notice the same rash when you apply local parfumes or when you expose to the sun.

Meanwhile, if you do not want to use topical steroids or antihistaminics, I would suggest to ask at your local pharmacy for herbal anti-allergic cream. You can use them for long time without having any side effect.

Hope it helped!
