I recently had a tumor remove from my neck the doctor told me he had to slice into my spinal cord. this operation was march 8 this year, still in a lot of pain, left leg completely numb, left and right arm numb no strength in right arm. still in pain. doctor seems to want to wean me off pain meds. but still in pain. how long dose it take to recover and why would the doctor be in such a hurry to take me off meds. I did not have all these systems before operation except for neck and shoulder pain, much worst now.

Hello,
As per your question, you had a tumor removed very close to your spinal cord. I assume that the tumor has turned out benign because you are only on pain killers till now.
Most likely your doctor wants to assess you without pain killers and doesnt want you to be dependent on them.
In this way your recovery will fasten and you dont have to take medicines for very long.
I think your doctor has taken the appropriate decision.
Hope this helps.
