Have Numbness In Foot. Have Tingling, Pain, Burning In Feet. Doubtful Of Vitamin B12 Deficiency. Have Back Pain. Medical Cure For This?
over the past year or more I have had a numbness in my right foot. for the past several months it has gotten worse and I am now having sever numbness, tingling, pain and burning in both my feet. for the last month I have begun having pain in both my legs too. Over the last six month I was checked for diabetes, MS and I believe vitamin B12 deficiency. I also have a lower back problem that I'm talk may be pinching lower nerves. The test for diabetes and MS came back clear. B12 was low and it was inconclusive as to whether the back injury was causing the problems with my feet.
Hello and welcome to HCM, Deficiency of vitamin B-12 can be a cause of numbness in the limbs. Since B 12 levels have come out to be low, you need to take vitamin B-12. Vitamin B-12 is taken in the form of injectables initially to clear away the acute deficiency and thereafter regular supplements can be taken. However, the lower spine also needs to be examined to look for any lesion causing the symptoms of numbness. MRI of lower spine will tell about the condition of the lower spine. You can consult an orthopedician for clinical examination and relevant investigations. Protrusion of the inter-vertebral disc or prolapse can lead to impingement of the nerve roots. Impingement of the nerve roots can cause pain in the region of distribution of the nerve. Management will depend after the investigations are done.
