Have Osteoporosis, Taking Boniva Or Prolia. Can These Medicine Cause Cancer?

I am a woman of 57 years old, I was on boniva for 2 years and my doctor saw improvement on my osteoporosis then suddenly she said that i was much better and she took me off . Now after a year I went back for bone density and the osteoporis seems to have come back then again she suggested I go back on boniva or prolia. i heard that actually they did a study which seems that either boniva or prolia is not safe, and can give you cancer.
Can you tell me if is true and what you think?

Hi,
Welcome to HCM,
Thanks for using HCM,
You are having postmenopausal osteoporosis and being treated by Ibandronic acid(Boniva) is a potent bisphosphonate drug used in the prevention and treatment of osteoporosis. Treatment also includes calcium and Vitamin D supplementation.
This is not known to cause cancer please follow instruction of treating doctor.
(Prolia) Denosumab is a fully human monoclonal antibody for the treatment of osteoporosis, infections of the urinary and respiratory tracts, cataracts, constipation, rashes. and joint pain.
This was reported to increase risk of cancer in a small study but not significant so discuss with your doctor what is best for you.
Hope this helps.
Take care.
Good Luck.
