Have Pain In Lower Abdomen, Groin, Arms And Legs. Ultrasound Shows Fibroid In Uterus. Advice?
have pain that comes in bouts in my low abdomain and groin and in my arms and legs.
Ultrasound onpelvic area showed i have a fibroid on my uterus . pap smear was fine and blood tests
didn't show anything . could my pain be from fibroid. have always had a few back problems too.
I am post menopause haven't had a period for about 4 years now and my fibroid has
only came within the last few years
It is uncommon to have fibroid in post menopause. Fibroids are dependent on female hormones in order to develop, at menopause, there is a drop of these hormones thus making it unfavorable for fibroids to generate or grow and thus favoring degeneration of existing fibroids. However, if truly the mass is a fibroid, it is likely that it is degenerating and it would have been important to state the size of the fibroid. Large fibroids definitely would be symptomatic producing symptoms such as lower abdominal pains and thus yes the pain could be due to the fibroid if the fibroid is large enough.
If the fibroid is large enough, you might consider having a total hysterectomy in which the uterus and its cervix are removed thus sparing you of the risk of developing cervical cancer.
