Have Pain In The Ears. Have Sinus, Was Prescribed Augmentin And Flonase. Now Prescribed Zpac And Prednisone. What To Do?
A nurse practitioner prescribed Augmentin & Flonase for what she diagnosed as a sinus infection. My ears had been bothering me before seeing but not much. I started taking the Augmentin but not the flonase. After 2 days, my ears started hurting more. I decided (for some silly reason) to put Animax in my ear because my ear was aching. The next day I went to see my doctor who told me, as the nurse practioner said, that my ears are full of fluid. He perscribed a ZPac & prednisone for 5 days. Now one of my ears is aching more than the other. Could this be from the animax? Will it hurt my ear.
I am sorry for your pain. We cannot be sure if your pain has become worsened because of Animax (containing nystatin, neomycin, thiostrepton and triamcinolone) unless visualizing the ear canal. But it is not safe to put something in your ear without proper physical examination by a qualified doctor since there are some absolute contraindications to use any kind of ear drops or ointment in certain conditions like perforated tympanic membrane etc. I advise you to consult an ENT (Ear, Nose and Throat) Specialist to properly diagnose your condition with the help of instruments like Otoscope etc.
Take Care!
