Transverse colon is a part of the large intestine which helps in passage of food and absorption of water. If you have a strong family history of cancer, you should get regular colonoscopies done. If you are suffering from pain in the abdomen it is best to get it evaluated by a gastric surgeon.
The presence of polyps increases your chances of getting cancer and you should stay under close surveillance.
Hi
Transverse colon is part of large intestine which is located transversly across the abdomen. It appears that colon cancer runs in your family, which puts you in high risk of getting this disease. So you should get periodic colonoscopy to detect and remove any polyp.
The link below gives you schedule for your colonoscopy.
Regarding the pain you can consult your surgeon .It is most likely due to recent polyp removal and some pain medication will help you.

General & Family Physician, Dr. Jay Patel's Response
Hi,
Sorry to hear about your condition.
TRANSVERSE COLON is a one of the part of large intestine that is lying in horizontal plane of body meaning from side to side (left to right position). It's basic function is to extract extra amount of water and the important minerals from food and send rest of the stuff to the rectum (storage for stool / waste product) part of large intestine.
Now about the pain, after the removal of the colon part that has some form of abnormal cell, which is known as colonostomy, the healing occurs with fibrous tissues which are tough then normal cell, so that the joint / healed portion can stay connected to the main part. But in some cases the over formation of such fibrous tissues may lead to sensation of pain as they are bit rough, or may have some other connection and leading to stretch causing feeling of pain.
ADVICE:
1) Consult your surgeon and explain what is going on.
2) Ultrasound of colon may help to find out any abnormal connection formation ofter the operation was done.
Hope i have addressed you concern satisfactorily.
Dr. JAY PATEL.
