Have Pain Side Of Gum Behind Last Tooth, Red. Anything Concerned?
For the last two days I've had a pain that I thought was a tooth ache, however it's actually on the side of the gum behind the last tooth on the right side where the tongue rubs against that bit of the back of the mouth. Looking at it with a flash light it appears redder than the left side. Is this anything to be concerned about?
As the area behind the last tooth is difficult to clean, there is often food accumulation and bacterial deposists there leading to redness, swelling and inflammation of the surrounding gums.
I would suggest you to visit Dentist and get the checkup done, take an x-ray of the involved tooth if needed.
Meanwhile go for symptomatic treatment like lukewarm saline gargles, use antiseptic mouthwash solution gargles twice to prevent infection and promote healing.
Go for complete mouth scaling and polishing.
Apply mucopain ointment topically over the affected area.
Traumatic cheek biting.
Pericoronitis of impacted wisdom tooth.
Sharp edges of tooth.
I would suggest you to get a thorough clinical examination.
Get your teeth cleaned.
decayed teeth has to be restored.
Impacted wisdom teeth has to be extracted or retained depending on the position of tooth.
Apply pain relieving anaesthetic gel on the affected site.
Use chlorhexidine mouthrinse to gargle.
Hope this helps.
your clinical history suggests you have developed gum infection .
It is caused due poor oral hygiene ,improper brushing and flossing that leads to accumulation of bacterial plaque and calculus deep in the gum pockets and root surfaces of the teeth.
It presents with symptoms of redness , bleeding gums , swelling , pain ,recession and sensitivity.
It needs to be treated by thorough professional deep scaling of gums and root planing of the teeth to remove all the irritants ,this will help in resolving the symptoms followed by a course of antibiotic and analgesics.
i would suggest you to go for symptomatic treatment at home like gargling with lukewarm saline water or antiseptic mouthwash like chlorhexidine or betadine.
your history suggests that you are taking about an impacted third molar.this impacted tooth is trying to erupt and in initial stages causing mild irritation and resulting inflammation.
hello,
first of all i would like to know your age as the wisdom tooth( 3rd molar) usually erupts at the age of 18-22yrs.. during the eruption period if the oral hygiene is not maintained properly then infection occurs due to food lodgement... which results in gums swelling, pain.in some cases wisdom tooth doesnt erupt straight due to the cheek mucosa gets traumatised resulting in ulcers...
do lukewarm salt water rinses 4-5times per day, antiseptic mouthwash, brush twice daily, pain relieving gel like mucopain gel on the affected area thrice daily. visit your dentist for intra oral x ray and check up
thanks
