Have Panic Attacks, Nausea And Stomach Pain. Found Dark Blood In Stool. Advice?
I havr been having what seem to be panic attacks over the past 8 months along with random and severe nausea . Ive also had stomach pain in my sides. Today I had a bowel movement which had a large amount of dark blood in it and ever since, my stomach has been cramping and i am light headed and am having bad hot flashes...any ideas?
Panic attacks is a form of anxiety disorder or a psychosocial disorder and since the situation has become chronic you will definitely require some medications to control your attacks. Panic disorder can be effectively treated with a variety of interventions including psychological therapies and medication with the evidence that cognitive behavioral therapy has the longest duration of effect, followed by specific selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors. Your treatment might include an anxiolytic and will be required to consult a psychiatrist for proper management.
Your second problem is very unlikely related to or not even related to the panic disorder. The dark blood signifies you are having a digestive hemorrhage (most likely upper given the presentation of the stool) but could still be lower. The origin of the dark red stool could be a complicated peptic ulcer, diverticulitis, ruptured varices etc. The differentials will depend on your age, drug and medical history.
You will need to pay a visit to a primary care doctor as soon as possible for immediately review and management. An endoscopy and a colonoscopy might be required to determine the cause.
Hope this helps
