Have Post Menopausal Bleeding. Taking HRT. Doctor Suggesting A Hysterectomy. Suggestions?
I have been struggling with post menopausal bleeding for a couple of years. I am 60. I take HRT and went into menopause at 35-36. I am worried about stopping the HRT, thinking it may be the cause. My OB-GYN has tested me each time I have had an episode and the biopsies have been negative. He is now suggesting a hysterectomy and perhaps estrogen afterwards.
I understand your concerns. Having post menopausal bleeding while being on HRT may at times be a normal phenomenon. If the doctor is suggesting hysterectomy, there must be a reason for the same. Please see if there is something abnormal in your pelvic or abdominal ultrasound scan that is making your doctor think this way. I also think that it might be good to take the doctor's advise since there is an increased risk of malignancy when you are taking supplementation hormones after menopause.
I hope this helps. Take care and have a lovely day!
