Have Problem With Sleeping. Was Prescribed Ambien And Ativan. What To Do For This?

Every night, when I try to sleep, I jerk awake. It's as soon as I drift off to sleep and start to dream. It's a horrible "snapping" sensation in my head, and I'm suddenly wide awake. I literally cannot sleep the entire night. I went 3 days without sleep and started to hallunciate from sleep deprevation. The only way I can sleep, I'm sorry to say, is to drink three shots of vodka and two shots of Nyquil, along with my Remeron. Is there anything I can do? My doctor prescribed Ambien and Ativan but I got really addicted to those two and I stopped taking them.
Thanks

Psychiatrist 's  Response
Hi,
Thanks for using healthcare magic.

I have gone through your magic.

You may have night terror disorder. You should also rule substance withdrawal sleep disturbances.

You should consult psychiatrist or sleep disorder specialist . Doctor will rule out physical causes and may prescribe drugs accordingly.

You may take lorazepam or diazepam under guidance of your doctor. Doctor will reduce and taper the dose of drugs gradually.

Thanks.
