Have Problems With Bowel Movements Post Colostomy. Should I Just Be Patient?

I had colostomy takedown one month ago. DR was able to do takedown even though i only had 1 foot of colon to work with. Surgery went well and surgeon said I need to be patient and BMs will be less frequent in time.
Stools are formed and not loose. I am having about 10 bms a day.
Do I need to be patient and let body slow down over time.,

hello,

As you have yourself said you do need to be patient with this. with time bowel will adapt to its new length and your BM will decrease. Take advice of a dietitian regarding the type and amount of food you should have per meal

wishing you a speedy recovery

regards
Dr. Gaurav
