Have Rashes And Soft Stool. HIV Positive Partner. ELISA And PCR Negative. Am I Infected?

A friend was exposed 40 days ago after intercourse with now known HIV positive lady, pep started on day 4 only. On pep completion, pcr and Elisa negative. On day 39, negative combo. He got me worried when he showed me some rare fine rash one or two on the forearm and same onthe shoulder, he mentioned one episode of soft stool today...maybe prolonged or late effect of pep?! Can I hope to be negative?

Thanks for using HCM.

As you have history of exposure, you need to repeate test after 3 and 6 months to know your result. ELISA is a screening test, repeat test again after 3 and 6 months.
Rash appearance of rash could be due to some drug reaction or other infection.
Consult physician to for examination. need to rule out other Sexually transmitted diseases.
hope I have answered your query. have a good health.

General & Family Physician Dr. Nehal Mehta's  Response
hello,
thank you for using health care magic
well PCR and ELISA are just screening test.. they are not confirmatory.. in early stage it can give false negative.. repeat after 3 months.. if you want you can go for P24 antigen testing .. it is confirmatory even in early stage.
you have alsredy taken PEP so chaces of infection has already reduced to very less.
rash can be because of side effect of PEP and loose stool also can occur due to side effect.. usually rash is not symptom of early stage..
hope this helped you,
Regards,
Dr. Nehal
