Have Rashes On The Shoulder Along With Burning Sensation. What Should Be Done For This?
I have a small localised area of rash that appeared suddenly this morning on my left shoulder. They are about 3mm in diameter and around 20 patches of red rash. They aren't lumpy, just flat to the skin. They also do not disappear when I perform the glass test and apply pressure to the area. I have also just started to experience a burning sensation in the area and pain going down my left arm, in particular my wrist joint. I am sure it is nothing serious but just wanted some advice. Thanks
Hi, It is herpes zoster. You should immediately consult dermatologist. There are clusters of vesicles and severe burning pain. It is caused by VZV ..varicella zoster virus. It occurs only in those persons, who have histoy of chickenpox ..i.e. varicella. Antiviral like acyclovir in appropriate dose for 2 to 3 weeks should be taken. Anti inflammatory and pain killers may be taken. Steroids in tappering dose should be taken to prevent post herpetic neuralgia. Silver sulphadiazine cream may be applied locally. It rarely relapses..only in immunocompromised patients having HIV ,malignancy or other immunedeficiency diseases. You do not worry. You will be alright with above treatments taking under dermatologist's supervision. I hope you might be satisfied with my answer.
Wishing you fast recovery.
