Have Sore Throat, Congestion And Coughing Yellow Mucus. Had Surgery Using MAC Anesthesia. Recommendations?
I had a same day surgery today and I believe they used MAC anesthesia (no ventilator), at least that was the plan. I awoke with a somewhat sore throat plus allot of congestion, and began coughing up bright yellow mucus into tissues (so the nurse did not comment on the color). Now a nurse friend says I probably have some kind of infection, but I have no other symptoms. Also, breathing has improved much over the last several hours. Should I follow up with my doctor?
I have gone through your description. Even if you have had a same day surgery all post surgical treatment has to be taken from the doctor who performed the surgery as he/she exactly knows what was done and what is happening with you. Please follow up with your doctor.
