Have Sudden Headache And Blurred Vision. Had Bumped The Head. What To Do?
Hello I bumped my head on Friday afternoon. It is a little sore at the spot but otherwise I was fine. Today all of a sudden my eyesight got very blurry as I was driving so I came home. Now I have a bad headache but otherwise feel fine. I have a physical scheduled for Tuesday, can I wait until then to get it checked out. I am resting now and feel a bit better.
There are certain criteria which are used to determine whether imaging studies like a CT scan are necessary after minor head injury.
The criteria for CT after minor injury are: (1)headache (2) vomiting (3) age over 60 (4) drug or alcohol intoxication (5) loss of short term memory (6) seizures (7) visible injury or trauma above the clavicle.
The CT is done in these cases to rule out any serious damage to the brain.
If you are not experiencing any of the above or do not fit any of the criteria then you can consider waiting till your appointment but reschedule for earlier if your symptoms persist or worsen.
If you do fit one or more of the criteria then you can consider seeing your doctor sooner than scheduled.
I hope this helps
