Orthopaedic Surgeon, Joint Replacement 's  Response
Hi, thanks for writing to HCM.

An xray of the injured area is mandatory to know the fracture pattern. If it is a simple fracture without much displacement, then conservative management in the form of a long leg cast will work (if you cannot afford surgery).

Whether or not surgery is indicated will be decided by the consultant orthopedic surgeon based on the fracture pattern.

Closed fractures will rarely get infected. There is a chance of infection, if you are a Diabetic.

I suggest you to consult an orthopedic surgeon for further management.

Hope this information is helpful. Good day

Orthopaedic Surgeon Dr. Vaibhav Gandhi's  Response
Hello,
Thanks for writing to us,

If you have fractured around knee you need treatment in form of plaster cast or open reduction with internal fixation with plate or screw.

If you suspect infection then strict immobilisation with antibiotic coverage should be started. be aware of cellulitis leading to spread of skin infection.

As your weight is high if you remain bed riden then chances of bed sores can increase so you need to be careful and proper nursing care of back and hips is required

I hope that I have answered your query. Let me know if I can help you further. Take care
