Have Weight Gain, Depression, Sexual Side Effects. Been Taking Paxil. Will I Experience Withdrawals If I Stop?
I have only been taking Paxil for 2 months, but the side effects are horrible. I am gaining weight and feeling more depressed and experiencing sexual side effects as well. If I suddenly just stop taking it, will I have withdrawals since I have only been taking it daily for two months? I am reading about some serious side effects or withdrawals from sudden cessation of Paxil. Betsy

Paroxetine (paxil) belongs to antidepressant group of drugs. These drugs are well known to cause discontinuation symptoms on abrupt stoppage. They have to be tapered down slowly over few weeks that your treating doctor can help you with.
Report the side effects that you are experiencing to your doctor, your medication can be changed accordingly.

Paroxetine is good, potent antidepressant drug , mainly used for depression with anxiety symptoms.
It may cause weight gain and sexual dysfunction as a side effects.
You should consult your psychiatrist before omitting the drug as it may cause withdrawal features and may cause worsening of current illness.
Doctor may reduce the dose of paroxetine or may switch over to different drug like desvenlafaxine or agomelatine .
