Having Abdominal Pain In The Right Side, Diarrhea. High ALT Levels In The Blood Test. Diagnosed With IBS. Frequent Urination
I have had abdominal pain for the past several years now, it is sporadic and is usually on the right side. I have had many blood tests that have showed a very high alt tests. I have also had very bad diarrhea the past couple years and was diagnosed with IBS and prescribed medication which helped with the sudden urges to go however I still constantly have diarrhea and have to urinate constantly throughout the day, I have even had to get up in the middle of the night to urinate. I have been reffered to a gstroenterologist and was wondering if you may know anything, thank you
Hello, brianparino,
You say that you have been diagnosed to have IBS. I am sure the doctors have
eliminated a lot of conditions such as lactose intolerance, celiac disease,
infections and inflammatory bowel disease by doing appropriate tests. IBS is not
associated with urinary problems usually , except in some women bladder spasm
may be associated. Frequent urination and night time urination may indicate
early diabetes. The fact that you have elevated ALT indicates you may have
some underlying liver problem , although medications including the over the
counter pain medications can cause ALT elevation. Hope you have had tests
for Hepatitis_C & B. Again, right sided abdominal pain and abnormal liver
test can be from gallbladder problem as well.
Hope you will discuss all these with your gastroenterologist.
Wish you good health.
