Having Diarrhea, Burning Sensation In Stomach, Vomiting. History Of Stomach Flu. Medical Attention Required?
My 17 yr. old son has had the stomach flu for about 6 days. He was initially vomiting and had diarrhea and that stopped 2 days ago, though now the diarrhea has returned. He said his stomach feels like it is on fire. He has been drinking a lot of fluids, water, gatorade. Is there a point where I should take him to see a doctor?
Hello
Welcome to health care magic
Dear patients attndent, your son had got acute gastroenteritis which is generally a self limiting illness and you had avoided the major complication of the disease i.e dehydration and shock by giving him lot of fluids , that is really an appriciatable attempt that you had done but now since his symptoms had returned like epigastric burning and diarrhoea , i suppose this is a sufficient ground to take him to a doctor who will examine him and will do some tests on him to rule out some infections like typhoid, amoebic or bacillary dysentry or any other illness and will treate him accordingly
wish you speedy recovery
thanks
Dr Arshad
