Having Elephantiasis In Both Legs For Years With Swelling And Pain. Will Get Relief From Pendura Injection?
Hello Doctor, My father had elephantiasis since last 30 yrs. Now he had problem in his both legs, it was swelled and pain also. He was advised by the Dr to take pendura injection for every month. Can you please explain me is the treatment he was advised is correct? Is there any other better treatment, please advise.

Hello, Welcome to HCM As your father is suffering from elephantiasis from 30 years,pain and sweliing in the limbs suggests infection of both the limbs. Pendura injection is a antibiotic.It helps in reducing pain and swelling.It can be given for this,along with this analgesics(pain killers) are to be given. But for the treatment of elephantiasis, Diethylcarbamazine and ivermectin are the drugs of choice.They have to continued along with the antibiotics. Hope you are satisfied with the answers.
